Privacy Policy
How this website collects, uses, and protects your information.
Who We Are
This policy applies to michaelrainwater.com, a personal website operated by Michael J. Rainwater. I also operate radicalprovision.com, which has its own separate privacy policy. The two sites are independent — submitting information on one does not share it with the other.
What Information We Collect
Contact form. When you use the contact form on this site, you provide your name, email address, and message. Phone number and organization are optional fields. This information is submitted through Web3Forms and forwarded to me by email so I can respond to your inquiry.
Analytics. This site uses Google Analytics 4, which collects anonymous usage data — pages visited, approximate geographic region, browser type, and session duration. This data does not identify you personally and is used only to understand how the site is used.
We do not collect payment information, create user accounts, or run advertising on this site.
How We Use Your Information
- Contact form submissions are used solely to respond to your inquiry. Your information is not added to any mailing list, shared with third parties for marketing, or sold.
- Analytics data is used to understand site traffic and improve content. It is processed anonymously and never tied to your identity.
Third-Party Services
This site relies on the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Web3Forms / SendGrid — processes contact form submissions and routes them to my email inbox.
- Google Analytics 4 — provides anonymous site usage statistics. Google may process data outside the EU/EEA. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish returning visitors and measure sessions. These cookies do not identify you personally and are not used for advertising. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time without losing access to this site.
No other cookies are set by this website.
Data Retention
Contact form submissions are retained in my email inbox for as long as needed to respond and maintain records of professional inquiries. Google Analytics data is retained according to Google's standard retention settings (26 months by default).
Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data I hold about you.
- Correction — ask me to correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion — request that I delete your personal data.
- Portability — request your data in a portable format.
- Objection — object to processing where I rely on legitimate interests.
To exercise any of these rights, email michael@rainwater.me. I will respond within five business days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your data has been handled unlawfully.
Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
For contact form submissions, I process your data on the basis of legitimate interests — specifically, to respond to your inquiry. For analytics, processing is based on legitimate interests in understanding how the site is used. You may object to either at any time.
Data Security
Form submissions are transmitted over HTTPS and handled by Web3Forms and SendGrid, both of which maintain their own security standards. I do not store form submissions in a database on this site.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 16 and does not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, the updated date at the top of this page will reflect it. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
